Fuzzy Duck is a verbal drinking game where players sit in a circle, repeat tongue-twister phrases, reverse direction with “does he,” and drink when they mess up. It sounds stupid because it is. It also works annoyingly well.
The core rule is that one phrase travels in one direction, and the reverse phrase travels the other way. The faster the group plays, the more likely someone says the wrong thing and the table loses it.
FUZZY DUCK RULES — QUICK VERSION
- Players sit in a circle.
- Start by saying “fuzzy duck” and pass play clockwise.
- Each player may repeat the current phrase or say “does he” to reverse direction.
- When direction reverses, the phrase changes to “ducky fuzz.”
- Another “does he” reverses direction again and switches back.
- Wrong phrase, hesitation, laughing through your turn, or speaking out of turn means you drink.
To play Fuzzy Duck: pass the phrase “fuzzy duck” around the circle until someone says “does he,” which reverses direction and changes the phrase to “ducky fuzz.” Players drink when they hesitate, speak out of turn, use the wrong phrase, or absolutely mangle the words.
What You Need to Play Fuzzy Duck
- 4 or more players
- Drinks

How to Play Fuzzy Duck
FUZZY DUCK → FUZZY DUCK → “DOES HE?” → DUCKY FUZZ → REVERSE
1. Start with “Fuzzy Duck”
The first player says “fuzzy duck.” Play moves clockwise unless your group chooses the other direction.
2. Repeat or Reverse
On your turn, either repeat the current phrase or say “does he” to reverse the direction. “Does he” is the only real weapon in the game.
3. Switch the Phrase After a Reverse
After “does he,” play changes direction and the phrase flips from “fuzzy duck” to “ducky fuzz,” or from “ducky fuzz” back to “fuzzy duck.”
4. Drink for Mistakes
You drink if you say the wrong phrase, go out of turn, hesitate too long, miss the direction change, or laugh so hard you cannot get the words out.

Fuzzy Duck House Rules & Variations
Alternating Phrase Version
Some groups alternate “fuzzy duck” and “ducky fuzz” every turn instead of only switching on reversals. This is harder and gets messy faster.
Two-Reversal Limit
Limit consecutive “does he” calls to two in a row. Otherwise two players can trap the game in a boring little reverse battle.
Double Penalty for the Big Slip
If someone produces the obvious accidental profanity version, many groups make it a double drink. You do not need to write that version down. Everyone knows where this train is headed.
