Never Have I Ever Drinking Game: Rules, Questions & How to Play

Never Have I Ever is a verbal drinking game where players take turns saying something they have never done. Anyone who has done it drinks, puts a finger down, or takes the agreed penalty.

That is the whole engine. The game is not complicated. The complicated part is your friend saying “Never have I ever hooked up with someone in this room” and suddenly everyone is studying their can like it has tax documents printed on it.

NEVER HAVE I EVER RULES — QUICK VERSION

Players sit where everyone can see each other.
Choose drinking, fingers, or points before starting.
One player says, “Never have I ever...” plus something they have never done.
Anyone who has done it drinks or puts a finger down.
Move to the next player and repeat.
The game ends after a set number of rounds, when someone runs out of fingers, or whenever the group is done.

To play Never Have I Ever: go around the circle making true “Never have I ever” statements, and anyone who has done the thing takes the penalty. In the drinking version, the penalty is usually one sip; in Ten Fingers, players start with 10 fingers up and put one down each time they have done the thing.

How to Play Never Have I Ever

STATEMENT → PEOPLE WHO DID IT DRINK → NEXT PLAYER → REPEAT

1. Pick a Version

Drinking version means anyone who has done the thing takes a sip. Finger version means everyone starts with 10 fingers up and puts one down when guilty. Points version is useful if you want a winner without turning every answer into another sip.

2. Make a Real Statement

The statement should be something the speaker has genuinely never done. “Never have I ever been arrested” works. “Never have I ever been named Tyler” is technically legal and also garbage.

3. Everyone Answers Honestly

If you have done it, you drink or put a finger down. If you have not, you do nothing. No courtroom cross-examination unless the group likes chaos.
