Landmine is a coin drinking game where players spin a quarter, drink before it stops spinning, and use empty beer cans as obstacles called landmines.
At the start, it feels like Quarters’ chaotic cousin. By the end, the table is covered in empty cans and everyone is trying to spin a quarter through a tiny legal parking spot like they’re landing a helicopter.
LANDMINE RULES — QUICK VERSION
- Players stand around a clear table.
- On your turn, pour a small beer amount into a cup.
- Spin a quarter on the table.
- Drink your pour while the quarter spins.
- Pick up the quarter before it stops spinning.
- If you fail, refill and go again.
- Empty cans can be slammed onto spinning quarters as landmines.
- Landmine cans stay on the table as obstacles.
To play Landmine: spin a quarter, drink your small pour, and pick up the quarter before it stops. Empty cans become landmines that players can place or slam onto the table to block future spins.

How to Play Landmine
SPIN QUARTER → DRINK → CATCH QUARTER → ADD LANDMINES
1. Pour Your Wager
The active player pours a small amount of beer into their cup. Letting people pour “as much as they want” is common, but small pours keep the game playable.
2. Spin the Quarter
Spin the quarter on the table. It has to stay spinning long enough for you to drink and pick it up.
3. Drink and Catch
Drink your pour, then pick up the spinning quarter before it falls flat. Many groups require the same hand for drinking and catching.
4. Fail and Go Again
If the quarter stops, falls off the table, hits a landmine, or you fumble the pickup, you go again.
5. Use Empty Cans as Landmines
When a player finishes a can, that empty can can be slammed onto another player’s spinning quarter. The can stays where it lands, making the table harder for everyone.
Landmine Penalty Table
| Event | What Happens |
|---|---|
| Quarter stops before pickup | Player goes again. |
| Quarter hits a can | Counts as a fail. |
| Opponent slams a landmine | Player goes again; can stays there. |
| Quarter flies off table | Player goes again. |
